Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy
Minimum Data Set Questionnaire

The ND Board of Physical Therapy is requiring minimum data set information from PT and PTA licensees to better understand the physical therapy workforce within the state. North Dakota has observed large fluctuations in the general population throughout the last 5-10 years. The population influx primarily occurred in younger age groups throughout the western part of the state. At the same time, the state has many rural counties with an increasing percentage of older individuals and limited healthcare resources. Understanding the current ND and United States Health Workforce enables State and Federal Governments and Health Professional Associations and organizations to utilize common terminology, more appropriately plan for supply and distribution of the health workforce, build better models of supply and demand, inform healthcare education and develop programs and policies that can be evaluated for effectiveness. The ND Board of Physical Therapy has adopted the following survey questions that were developed by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) in conjunction with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). We believe the information will help to better understand the current Physical Therapy workforce and prepare for the healthcare needs of tomorrow.
